We were lucky enough to catch up Monica from Monicas cakes for our Meet The Locals this month, Monica is a busy lady having launched her catering business earlier in the year and sharing a very special announcement with us in regards to an exciting new catering venue!
Monica’s passion for cakes started out at home doing birthday and cakes for events for friends and family, as word of mouth grew so did Monica’s client base. Monica’s cakes is a one stop shop for personalised cookies and cakes of all sizes for people throughout the Goulburn district. Having been born and raised here Monica loves having return customers year after year for their families celebrations and being able to follow that journey throughout her artistry.
After so much success and growth within her cake business Monica decided in early 2020 to take the plunge and resign for her head chef role and pursue another line to her business for event catering. This is when Elite Events & Catering was born. Within this business model Monica is able to cater for all types of events from platters and dessert boxes through to full event catering. Along with these exciting changes came an opportunity to commence the Goulburn District Racecourse catering. Monica loves having the flexibility to be able to provide a range of services and all coming back to her love of great food.
The timing of her leap into her new business venture was right before the Covid 19 pandemic hit Australia, this was daunting at first but Monica was able to show true small business resilience and alter her offering to ensure that clients were still able to celebrate with mini ‘iso cakes’ and cupcake kits for kids.
